I am expected to move to another apartment in the summer and want to completely renovate the kitchen there and replace it with an Ikea kitchen.

The kitchen itself is square - my biggest problem is that the side with the windows is almost continuous, so I can’t install tall cabinets directly up to the windows without losing the ability to open the windows.

I printed a plan from the Ikea kitchen planner as a PDF or took a screenshot.

I would really appreciate tips!

Should all windows be able to open 90° wide? How wide is a window sash? How high is the window sill? Where is a radiator? Does it need to be left unobstructed? Which appliances (built-in/freestanding) are present and should continue to be used? Where are which connections located? Since the new kitchen series will be available from June, you should use the planner at ikea.co.uk or ikea.fr.

The radiator is to the left under the window. I would like to take a relatively wide side by side refrigerator (it is 70 cm wide).

The water pipe is located on the upper wall in the plan. I still need to have the electricity installed for the stove or oven – I am flexible there. A dishwasher is a must.

There are a total of 3 windows. In the middle one is 40 cm and the other two are 80 cm.

So I want to be able to fully open at least one large window and the small one – that’s why the idea on the plan is the 40 cm wide cabinet at the bottom left. The windows are at a height of 88 cm.

The 40 cm cabinet at the bottom left is not ideal, but I could put the coffee machine there and have a few coffee items on small shelves above. I would just like to know if you think of something better.

Best regards and thanks!

The windows are a problem. 88 cm to the bottom edge of the open window? The lowest height with Metod is 92 or 91 cm, unless you take the 60 cm high carcasses, but who wants that?

You should think very carefully about the 70 cm side-by-side. I know it from practical experience in the USA. The freezer part is so narrow that, for example, a pizza has to be stored vertically. So you have a narrow tall compartment and next to the pizza you have to stack everything and be careful that it doesn’t fall out if the packages are not cuboid-shaped.
With 70 cm width, the cooling compartment also becomes quite narrow. So where do you put a tiramisu in a wide casserole dish?

Which SBS is available in 70 cm width?

Oh, that's not a real side-by-side, it has 2 freezer drawers at the bottom and above that 2 doors with a large refrigerator compartment.

Hi :)
Will this be a single kitchen or a family kitchen?

I wouldn’t waste the space in front of the windows and would use it with base cabinets but wouldn’t put cabinets on the left wall.
You have, as it looks on the plan, the door flush with the left wall, which has to open, and then the windows. That only leaves space for an annoying block you always have to walk around to get to the window. That doesn’t look harmonious. With base cabinets at the window you compensate for the needed storage space and have a nice bright workspace.
Instead of the monster extractor hood, I would also choose the concealed under-cabinet version there, which makes the wall look calmer and you gain a bit of storage space again with a wall cabinet.

On the left wall I would maybe put 2-3 light wall shelves, a fold-down table for a quick cup of coffee...

What you could also do is what I am currently doing Faktum and Metod combination. The base cabinets Faktum so you have no problem with the window height and the wall cabinets with Metod, there are numerous new variants for that. For example, a small 40 cm glass cabinet.
What speaks against putting 3-4 of those staggered on the left wall, one a bit deeper and putting the coffee machine on it and a few cups, spoons, sugar below in the display cabinet.

Or also a Ribba picture ledge... that would make your kitchen look airier and bigger.

Yes, I do have ideas

Best regards
