The roof beam has cracks on the weather side - defect or normal?

We spent Saturday meticulously painting the roof cornice to protect the wood from wind and weather (and blue stain fungus). However, one of the rafters is cracked from top to bottom due to drying. It is impossible to reach everywhere there with a brush.

The roof frame was erected last week. Is a beam like this on the outside considered a defect?

Thank you for your help!

No, that is not a defect, that is wood. I had to chuckle a little..

Thank you for your assessment. However, if I buy a wooden shelf, there is also no crack in it. And it is not standing in the rain. Even if I make you smile, I look forward to further expert opinions.

For KVH (if it is KVH), there are regulations regarding crack width, just try googling it.

that looks completely normal. the stability is definitely not at risk. with kvh, that is just normal. there is simply intense heat hitting it and then it gets cold again. that just causes it to crack. since hardly any rain reaches there anyway, the wood is not stressed either, if you don't reach every spot inside the crack. otherwise, paint it as the experts told you...
