Here is a picture, but as said, a matter of visual taste:

I wouldn’t make a drama out of it either. You just don’t use residential tiles in the industry, just like you wouldn’t use bathroom tiles in living areas/hallways. The other way around is always possible. Otherwise, personal taste and individual style count. Only with rapport and pattern would one pay attention to the structure, making sure everything is well distributed and not, like in your example, the same tiles stand out at a glance.

I don't like the laying pattern in the picture at all either. I find the transition between the hallway and the living room difficult. My wife wants almost no tiles, so there will be vinyl in the living room and tiles in the hallway. Finding a color transition is really giving me headaches. The vinyl in the living room is supposed to have a wood look, so I would spontaneously have laid the opposite type of tiles in the hallway?!

Hopefully you also have the significantly different build height in mind! Pain in the toe can sometimes be worse than pain in the optic nerve

I installed click vinyl in the hallway, the lower corridor, and the kitchen in my last construction project. The wear is not low due to two small children and it works excellently. It is also not so cold underfoot. Considering material and installation costs, a great alternative. If the client reads this here, I would be happy to post some photos, which I am not allowed to do.

Transition tile vinyl under doors. With us, a bare narrow finishing strip on the tile. To the vinyl, a silicone joint in beech. No one has tripped yet. Vinyl is glued, clearly flatter. About the wood-look tiles. That’s not for me. If wood-look, then vinyl or laminate. I have not seen a tile that I like. But that doesn’t mean the quality has to be bad. My wife and I have an unusual taste for today’s times anyway. We love earth tones, somewhat Italian or Greek, don’t like gray or concrete look, pay close attention to the order from darker at the bottom to lighter at the top. We also still have old teak furniture that we combine with new stuff from the Elch. K.
