The "tampered" piece, where you can clearly see the edge, is the piece that was specially added so that the 60 cm cabinet would still fit. Without this edge, according to the kitchen installer, we would have had to redo the entire countertop. That would have ultimately cost around 1000 euros, according to him.

We were not aware that it looked so ridiculous. The installer told us that the transition would be visible, but it wouldn’t be that bad. It would look roughly like the attached picture. Well, unfortunately, it is far from that.

The hole in the countertop was for the power connection of the corner outlet. So it was made when the kitchen was already in the new house, but the 60 cm cabinet and the extension of the countertop were not yet attached. It was basically the end where the tall cabinet connects. So the hole does not come from the old kitchen, because the countertop was already new.

I will invite the kitchen installer for a coffee this week so that he can see the result personally. You never know if the installer told him anything about it.

Countertops are very often joined together, especially in large kitchens. But a gap like the one you have is rather large. It can be done better.

Oh wow, quite a lot is coming together here. It's hard to say who messed up the planning now. Like whether you at least should have noticed that the 60cm one still fits. But the solution chosen now is not acceptable in my eyes, just the patched-together back panel piece alone is bad enough. But that's also due to the fact that the chosen design hardly lends itself to adding anything there.

The countertop piece itself and the joint could be nicer, but might still be tolerated. However, the power outlets are completely off. If you already need the straight strip to cover the hole in the countertop etc., why not just leave out the corner outlet?

Oh, and the butt joint in the last picture doesn’t look quite clean in the front area either, is there an edge to be felt there?

I have to be honest, I don’t understand how you wouldn’t notice during the planning itself that there would have been room for the 60cm unit. You compare the kitchen plan with the house plan... that’s what I would always do and I probably would have thought about how to fit the old kitchen into the new house before visiting the kitchen studio.

And now: honestly, take those €1,000 in hand and get a proper solution. There might be less for Christmas this year, but otherwise you will always regret it. €1,000 for a clean, good-looking solution – that wouldn’t be a question for me. Sure, you get annoyed about the stupid kitchen installer, but you will get even more annoyed if you have to look at this ridiculous solution (and also carelessly done, judging by what I see) every day. Think about your nerves :-)

Honestly? One could have guessed that it would look fiddly then. Just as one should have noticed that the 60cm cabinet actually fits. But since, according to the plan, it is always different on site or the decision about the new layout without the 60cm cabinet was made, I would also have left it out and used the gap to the right of the tall cabinet otherwise, e.g. a nice single shelf or a wine rack ;)

That’s how it is. Now the installer was optimistic, but it looks lousy.

Regarding the sockets, I can’t say anything because I can’t tell which of the two variants is correct... I find both somehow... something you have to get used to ;)

You always have to pay some tuition fee.

Either take the 1k or remove the 60cm cabinet and replace it with a 60cm one next to your tall cabinet, for example as a pharmacy cabinet if it fits. The cheapest option is shelves next to the tall cabinet.
