Hello everyone,

I have the following problem and would like to hear your opinion on it.

Last year we built a house and garage. The carpenter did the roofs for both buildings. Actually, a roof between the house and garage should have been built back then.

For various reasons, not his fault, this was planned for this year.

We were very satisfied with the work on the house and garage back then. Deadlines were met, availability etc. all great.

Now he was here in August to talk about the roof. He wrote everything down and left again. The offer price took a while because the company that is supposed to build the trussed roof had forgotten to process the inquiry.

So he got in touch with them again and after 2 weeks the price came. The total price was okay for us and I said, let's go, we’ll do it now.

4 weeks later I wrote to him to ask how things were going with the roof, so we could plan it somewhat. He replied that he wanted to get back to me the next day. Of course, that didn’t happen.
The following week I tried calling him, only voicemail. We were just on autumn break. OK, I didn’t try further.

Now on Monday I called again, he hung up on me. OK, if it doesn’t fit right now, he’ll probably call back. I also sent him a WhatsApp asking him to just get in touch.
Nothing happened.

The next day I tried again by phone, he hung up again.

Now I really don’t know what to do. On the one hand, I’m slowly getting tired of chasing him, on the other hand I want the roof. We’re talking about nearly a 10K contract volume.

No idea what I did to him. I mean, he’s also supposed to build my patio roof and do something at my parents’ place in town.

... try to meet him personally and talk to him kindly, maybe there is some misunderstanding somewhere.

Meeting him in person will be difficult. Although he only lives a few towns away, he is permanently on the construction site working. And I actually didn’t want to hang around in front of his house to catch him.

Too much to do. Private incident. No one knows exactly. I probably would have sent him another WhatsApp asking why he no longer gets in touch. You were satisfied with him and would like to complete more assignments with him. If he is not interested, it would be nice to give a short feedback, otherwise you will try to find someone else. I would definitely not hang around in front of his apartment building. That is creepy.

As I said, I will definitely not show up in front of his house. I am just surprised by this current behavior, as nothing had happened before and we got along great. I will leave him alone for another week or maybe two, and then send one last WhatsApp message politely asking if we will still get back together.

Know the problem very well, funnily enough also with a roofer. Mine is simply uncoordinated and overloaded with projects. The craft business is just going too well currently, so you can afford that. Whatever.

Solution: Call from a new phone number! Craftsmen always answer that, it could be a new project after all.
