Don’t get your hopes up that it will get better with increased development. It can even get worse if a kind of wind tunnel is created. The only help is a nice tall hedge in all directions.

Otherwise, I’m also in favor of a pergola with a sail or awning. Theoretically, that would even be possible in EL.

For us, the decision was also between a pergola awning or a sail. We found the struts of the pergola awning too thick and opted for the 2mm steel cables with sail (more storm-resistant). There are a few nice videos of sun sails in storms.

If we do something like that, we want to make full use of the entire width and depth... more in the direction of 6x4m. Then you’re back to a minimum of 8k in terms of price.

I don’t really know what to make of a 4x3m pergola...

At the moment we’re really at a loss and will probably choose an interim solution with cheap cantilever umbrellas, then later, when the other garden projects are completed, deal with a pergola in the near future.

That’s why I spoke of own contribution. You’re looking at 2-3k EUR (I guess without putting together a materials list now). Of course, and personal effort.

What could also work is to take a look at carports. They are sometimes cheaper and you can put something other than a roof on them or leave it off and instead stretch a sun sail.

I wouldn’t have any problem with personal contribution and definitely have the right helpers who have far more craftsmanship knowledge than I do.

Which "models" are you talking about here? I only know pergolas where you don’t commission the assembly and thus build the thing yourself. To me, it sounds like you want to build something like that completely on your own?

The assembly effort with certain manufacturers is about 1,500€ maximum (I have already had one or two offers in this regard), so I still don’t necessarily come close to 2-3k.

Yes, with the 2-3 TEUR I mean building tutto kompletto yourself. With carports, it is only an estimate that there are kits that can be repurposed, and with EL maybe also around 3-4 TEUR.
