Hello!

We will be moving in soon :D, and what is coming in spring: the installation of the terrace!

We need - because of the furniture "storage" - a roof. It should be made of metal, not wood.

Anyway: what is best to do first? The installation of the terrace with the covering or first the roof with the corresponding foundations, around which the covering is laid.
The same issue applies to the carport, only here we will have a gravel/split covering...

Good evening Yvonne,

Congratulations!

Always first the foundations and the actual surface later ... or would you like to decorate a new surface directly with scratches? You can also lay the surface and leave out the area of the foundations ... but for the same reason, I wouldn’t recommend it ;)

Rhenish greetings

Hello ypg,
what kind of material do you use for your terrace? We are unsure about the wood. We initially thought of Douglas fir, but my cousin has already had problems with it after 10 years. We are against tropical wood for environmental reasons. Now I am already thinking about tiles, but that was actually not our favorite. :(

Hello Kaho,

have you ever thought about WPC decking? They would be a hot favorite with us.

My parents have also had very good experiences with larch. The first wooden terrace lasted about 20 years.

do you know where from? They haven't been around that long yet, and for my taste, I'm bamboo cured. :) We have a bamboo parquet floor, vulnerable as hell... to protect the parquet, we bought bamboo rugs (not cheap), after 7 months they were almost completely destroyed by the chairs, bent up at all corners and edges, and splinter like crazy when something breaks off. I am a fan of China, and I love Chinese construction and the use of bamboo, but I think you can't get any decent bamboo products here in this country. If we had stuck to the wooden terrace, it would have been made of bamboo too, but instead now comes concrete. In the form of slabs that we install ourselves. We were advised against WPC decking boards, because the boards bent upwards at an acquaintance's place. For us, the price difference was decisive as well... we need 50 sqm terrace... that would have cost a fortune in wood... the stone slabs are available for just under 500 €.
