Take old/previous furniture to the new house or get "everything" new?

When I see photos of the interiors of houses here in the forum, I often get the impression, "Oh, everything so nice and new." Does anyone also take old/previous furniture with them or is almost everything replaced? My husband and I will take all the old/previous furniture with us. Is that still contemporary or somehow strange nowadays?

We also took everything with us. Only a few shelves for the library and the pantry were newly purchased. Otherwise, many of our furniture pieces have been with us for years, and we do not want to miss these beloved items.

I don't think so at all. We have a mix of old and new. We already had things that we still like and that are also high quality. Basically, we took everything except for a few small pieces of furniture and built-ins. Due to the fact that we now have significantly more space, we "had to" buy additionally.

When I moved to a larger apartment last time, I also partially replaced/supplemented furniture. Either because the old ones didn’t fit in the room, or simply because there was more space. And I can also imagine that you replace simpler "initial equipment" from the first own apartment in the house with something of higher quality if financially possible.

We also took almost everything with us. The new house is also significantly larger than the old one, so we still needed a few new things. The old living room cabinet then moved to the hobby room and provides storage, etc. I also find it quite cozy. Seeing myself surrounded only by new furniture in a new house would have been too much "foreign" for me, I think, after the move.

Of course, you take what is still okay or fits into the new house. The rest will be bought new, because often there is more space in the new house.
