Hello,

I am currently installing the surface-mounted (access point) electrical installation (cable laying, sockets, switches, access point boxes) in our garage so that later an electrician can connect it to the supply line. I have installed two LED tubes which I want to switch from two different locations. A push-button circuit will be used, i.e., I have two push-buttons. Currently, I am running the lamp connections with a 3x1.5 cable into a junction box. To the push-buttons, there are each 5x1.5 cables. I now have the following options/variants: (1) switching relay in the junction box (2) switching relay in a small sub-distribution mounted on the DIN rail. For 1, 2: either smart controllable (Shelly, etc.) or "dumb".

Due to the current situation, there is no sub-distribution in the garage yet, only a supply line from the house 3x1.5. I can only connect a maximum of 2 lamps and a socket here due to the insufficient cross-section of the cable. A sub-distribution would therefore be overkill for this one line! (Later there will be a proper sub-distribution with a supply line of at least 4mm2).

I would also prefer a variant with smart control, e.g., Shelly 1 or Shelly Pro. Without smart control, I would use a "pulse relay for flush mounting 8-230V 1S ES61-UC Eltako" – but basically only as an emergency solution.

Which variant would you recommend and why? And which switching relays would be suitable? If a sub-distribution is used, which one would be cheap and suitable here and what advantages might I have with a small sub-distribution? As already mentioned, I would like to integrate the relay into my smart home, which is realized wirelessly (zigbee, Shelly). One more note: This installation will very likely be operated in parallel with the proper garage sub-distribution. So to speak, lighting + gate drive via the house circuit breaker and the remaining sockets, also high power, wallbox, etc., whatever, then via the later sub-distribution.

I would use a two-way switch.

I spontaneously thought of a bistable 24v relay. 24v power supply and low-voltage wiring to the push buttons. Easily integrable later into any [SmartHome] system.

Is it allowed to put 24V and 230V in the same junction box? Your solution would be a distribution box with a 24V power supply mounted on a DIN rail, right? That would of course be the easiest and is already applicable as such. However, unlike in the house, I want to design the electrical installation more flexibly. That would not work with a classic two-way switch with on-off switches. Hence my push buttons (Busch-Jaeger ocean rocker switches), which I want to connect to a relay. The relay then switches the lighting circuit.

Exactly. Distribution box with 24V power supply on DIN rail, etc.
