Even if you were to have drawers made afterwards, the carpenter would have to make so many changes that the warranty from the general contractor would be void anyway. So if anything, have it done properly right from the start, by someone who knows their stuff and has done it before. If necessary, even from the general contractor, even if it’s expensive. I would have found that cool too, but since we have a winding entrance and exit, that’s difficult. (We later had the cupboard custom-fitted under the stairs.)

Thank you very much for your answers!! I am just wondering if there could be complications if the staircase were to be done by a different company. For example, if the general contractor designs the distances of the interior walls a little differently than planned, the staircase might no longer fit - unless it is completely built on site. Or are wooden staircases generally also made on site? My question seems a bit naive to me.

if you order a staircase from a staircase builder or carpenter, they will of course come to measure... then cut the parts in their workshop and assemble them at your place.

No, that is not naive, but well thought out, because drawers have different tolerances than walls. Staircase / drawers are built according to measurements.

We also build with GU and have the staircase delivered/built externally. I don't see where a warranty issue should be lurking?

Thank you! Then we will request quotes and then decide
when craftsmen from "multiple sources" are at work, I always fear that accidents will happen (something gets damaged... scratch on the wall...) for which then no one is responsible. Basically, I prefer "everything from one source" if possible.
