So if there were a railing, no one would stumble over the step. But it does narrow the hallway, yes. May I ask why the originally planned solid wood staircase is being abandoned and whether the landing is absolutely necessary? Being freed from these constraints would certainly make things a lot easier...

Perhaps it should also be mentioned that the stairwell opening for the basement stairs remains unchanged when reversing the direction of travel. Here, I would simply build over one step. With a basement ceiling height of 2.50m, this is unproblematic for head clearance.

I don't understand why this is being planned in an amateurish way. Can't the stair builder make a reasonable proposal?

But all the furniture and moving boxes have to go upstairs, and you might need a ladder too. If you have Ikea furniture that can be disassembled into boards, it fits. A heavy wardrobe or old-quality sleeping furniture is a hassle with built-up steps.

I don't see the staircase builder as being responsible here. He only adapts the staircase to the shell construction. The fault lies with the planner. The bricklayer has to deal with the consequences, I would say.

Who planned the staircase shown? A staircase is a central element in the floor plan on which much depends. Sometimes entire floor plans fall apart because of it!

Have you already been to the staircase manufacturer? What does he say about the conditions?
