Special repayment, saving or consumption?

Please don't scold so generally.. every era has its numbers. For me personally, it was generally about dealing with installments.. They should always be manageable, not cause sleepless nights or stomach aches. Emergencies can be "waited out" with enough equity (at least for a while). That’s not possible if every cent goes into repayment.

That is exactly the apples-and-oranges joke in your statements.
Compared to the average here, you have about 30% of the loan amount and started with about 50% of the installment. The fact that you increased your average installment to about 80% therefore does not deserve any pats on the back and should accordingly not lead you to give any overly offensive advice to other users struggling with different numbers... ;)

Who’s getting aggressive here… I have never given any advice here, only reported how we did it. I was not aware that you are only allowed to join the conversation here if you have taken out loans of +500K.

Even with 500k, you first have to manage to afford an average installment of 1.8K, especially alone. I do not expect pats on the back from anyone. We give them to ourselves for having achieved our goal of under 10 years – we don’t know anyone in our circle who has done that.

KfW loan last month partially repaid early by nearly €40,000. It only saves us €160 per month, but gives a good feeling. The main loan also received its early repayment. Everything will be refinanced at the beginning of next year: €80,000 financing remains. With early repayment, we will be done in 6 years.
We still consume quite well. It’s all somewhat embarrassing. We don’t have anywhere near the income that some people here have, but we were quite down-to-earth in building our house. That shows monthly in the surplus :)

I would like to know the modest income to understand how one can “just” repay €40,000 early.... ;)

Exactly, they all bought / built at about the same time and took out similar loans. The environment is rather of the type to pay as little as possible. And every year there is a new reason not to make the special repayment.
