Soil report shocked us!!

Hello everyone,

today I received the soil report for our 623sqm plot. It shocked me very much.

According to the statement of the certified geologist, 2.5m depth of the plot is not buildable!

We are building without a basement!
Now tens of thousands of euros in costs are coming our way regarding earthworks.

Of course, the poor soil quality was not known before the purchase.

I am completely at a loss!

Is all of this legal?

Why should poor soil quality not be lawful? Have you contractually agreed on a specific soil quality? Without building a cellar, under these circumstances one might possibly reconsider...

Is it really that simple... bought as seen?! If I buy a €120k car, I also expect a flawless engine

You could have had the appraisal done beforehand!

It is quite presumptuous to believe that just because a car is expensive, it must be good. The same applies to a property.

I assume that at least with a car, you inquire about quality, condition, or similar before spending so much money.

Why you don’t do that for possibly the biggest investment of your life, but then expect quality just because the price is high, is beyond me.
