mME were installed here and no smart meter, and I'm glad about that too, why should I pay 80€ more in meter fees? I get nothing out of it. Our household is actually designated for the expansion by definition. As far as I know, the supplier can't even deliver the devices. They have zero interest in such technical gimmicks, and if they install them, it can't provide any added value because it's easier to close the interfaces.

hm..., that I have detailed information about my electricity consumption and can optimize better... One argument: "The electricity provider can throttle the electricity consumption" of course speaks against it. Has anyone among you installed a "Smartmeter" and can explain the advantages and disadvantages? At our place, an APOX+ from APATOR was installed. Does anyone know this meter?

With smart meters, you can book variable electricity tariffs like Tibber or Awattar and thus optimize your electricity consumption for periods with lower electricity costs.

Here in the forum, there are a lot of examples of people who put a huge amount of effort into optimizing their heat pump consumption with photovoltaics. Together with variable electricity tariffs, you could also specifically consume electricity at night or charge the electric car when the sun is shining and the wind is blowing on a Sunday. Since 2023, you would have saved a lot of money. Last August, you paid a lot extra.

With the electricity meter, you would have the opportunity for "self-responsible" electricity cost management – away from the fully comprehensive solution that is standard today.

I find it very interesting anyway. However, I have only seen the claim that a remote shutdown is possible with the smart meters installed here – unlike the lockout times with a heat pump meter.

That can also be achieved with a separate smart submeter for a one-time fee of €200. And there, these values are truly available, instead of having to deal with locked devices from network operators.

The correct terms for currently installed meters are modern metering equipment and intelligent measuring system.

Using these terms causes less confusion.

You can also do that with a Sunny HomeManager or similar devices from other manufacturers. Then you also have a web interface where you can view it graphically prepared. In my opinion, a power meter is not made for something like that. I would also sleep better knowing that my network operator cannot accidentally cut off my power. How quasi-authorities get along with "newfangled gizmos" should be well known by now. :D
