For later. ;) If you don't want a video system in Nairobi, you don't need it, otherwise you are definitely more flexible with it than with outdated two-wire systems.

Can you elaborate on that? What is a video intercom supposed to do? Ring and transmit video. Why isn’t the two-wire solution so great?

And you’re right. I will commission the electrician to switch to JB. And to upgrade the JB indoor unit to 7 inches.

Which outdoor station is recommended? Is this one okay?

Well, in principle you can of course connect the camera to any brain using two wires, but it seems to me that many providers place the intelligence directly in the camera module, and IP (network) is the usual protocol to connect it with other components. Then the camera can not only transmit image and sound but also, for example, recognize who is at the door, notify when a package is deposited, etc. Our door station only gets a network connection. The module already looks suitable. You should just pay attention to the 180 (instead of 105) degree field of view.

We are also getting the BJ welcome. You just shouldn’t be surprised that this system will be significantly more expensive than what you have apparently been offered so far. You can only roughly estimate it based on internet prices. The electrician will have to charge a significantly higher price. The ones sold on the internet are all reimports from Eastern Europe. BJ is aware of this but according to their own statements cannot do anything about it.

I read in reviews that it is supposed to have a poor picture. Has anyone taken a look at it yet?

Ask how much it costs. The current one should cost about €900. If the BJ costs €400-500 more, that’s okay.

Unfortunately, it is not that simple.
The complete calculation of individual product groups is, of course, based on country-specific price differentiations.
If manufacturers now only called up the prices of the cheapest offer regions generally (globally), the calculation would probably no longer work out for almost all of them.
Depending on how scalable the production is and whether a possibly higher sales volume could compensate for this.

The electronics industry is no exception here.
