I can only agree with the Loxone supporters. We are also planning to implement everything with Loxone. Depending on your knowledge, you can handle a lot yourself, especially with the software.
On our blog, I have written down the decision basis for this. There, I also refer to KNX and other systems. Ultimately, it is a very individual decision. Maybe you can find a Loxone partner near you, so you can get a quote or discuss your project with them.
Best regards,
Benni

With us, the decision about which bus system to build with was also open for a long time. KNX, Loxone, or KNX & Loxone were being considered. Ultimately, we decided on a pure KNX because I had some concerns about installing a system where everything is controlled via a central server. Another point was the dependency on a single company (Loxone). We also considered using only the visualization through Loxone, but will now use a Gira Homeserver. Certainly, a pure KNX with visualization is more expensive than a Loxone solution, and I can't really say today whether it is a better solution. For us, it was honestly more of a gut feeling.

: Your blog sounds interesting from just skimming through it I will read it in more detail in the coming days and maybe also ask one or two questions

Smart home systems are indeed very individual decisions, depending on one's own wishes and priorities. With KNX, you usually can’t go wrong (assuming there even is a right or wrong). You actually address the two biggest concerns regarding Loxone that one might have. Nevertheless, I know that in Germany many Siemens Logo! installations have already been replaced with Loxone. There are also other PLC controls, and with the star-shaped wiring, you remain flexible in case the system ever needs to be replaced by another or a different manufacturer. However, Loxone as a company is doing very well and is successfully pushing into the market. But the decision is very individual.

: Gladly – I will gradually put my ideas and implementations on virtual paper. Maybe it will help one or the other. Feel free to ask questions anytime.

Hi,

so far, I still haven't made any progress with my decision-making.
My main focus is on the blind or roller shutter control.

20 windows are electrically controlled.
Option 1: KNX
Option 2: Loxone
Option 3: Manufacturer system (e.g. Rademacher, Somfy, ...)

All blinds / roller shutters should be controlled by a button in each respective room and individually on each of the two floors.

Has anyone gained any experience?

How about fully automatic control? For example, the position of the sun. I will soon gain experience with variant 1 and 2

I will solve this with a Wago PLC. Although this involves more wiring effort because each line must be laid star-shaped to the PLC, I am free and can use simple standard roller shutter motors. I can also integrate a weather station for automatic control. And it can be controlled floor by floor or completely OPEN/CLOSE. But in the end, everyone has to decide for themselves which system they want to use. There is probably no right or wrong. Each has its advantages and disadvantages.
