Steel beams are quite a powerful tool though. For us, it is an approximately 75 sqm open living/dining/kitchen area, which is open in an L-shape (11x11m). Only one wall by the staircase had to be made as a reinforced concrete wall (about 2.5m long) to make it fit. As a result, the reinforcement of the ceiling became stronger. So it is possible in other ways, although we never asked the question about the price. However, it was not an extreme additional cost.

Hello,

I think that the wall from the kitchen to the hallway experienced an "extension" in the form of a beam level with the ceiling towards the rear living room wall; the reinforcement of the staircase opening alone probably would not have been sufficient. Somehow, the load must have been absorbed by the additional ceiling reinforcement.

Rhenish greetings

At least not with this wall as an extension across the living area. We had issues there with the fireplace and the routing of the ventilation pipes, so I would know. Steel beams were not installed, maybe a cast reinforced concrete beam was used?!? If so, then rather from the hallway wall across the kitchen to the exterior wall.

5 steel beams? Wow!
We have an L with 60 sqm (10.2 x 10.8m) and only needed one steel beam.

Thank you for your responses. I will update my drawings for the upper floor in the next few days and adjust them to the latest variants for the ground floor.

Hello,

after a longer break, I would like to hear your opinions on another draft. Access is from the north, exit to the terrace in the south. I imagine the windows in the living and dining area to be floor-to-ceiling. Behind the staircase/guest WC would be the garage and the neighbor. From the dining area, you look into the garden as well as an adjacent forest area.

A thought experiment would be to bevel the wall with the stove at a 45-degree angle to enhance the openness between cooking and living. Also, to plan a small wardrobe on the wall section between the entrances to dining and cooking and instead create a storage room between the stairs and WC. And I could also imagine moving the front door half a meter inward to create a sheltered entrance area.

Dimensions are 7.30 x 12.50 - wall thickness approx. 40cm as plaster is planned.

I am currently working on a slightly modified version, which will follow soon. I know the drawings for the basement as well as the upper floor are still missing; these will follow as well. It is to be a single-story house with a gabled roof, where the ridge runs from the stairs over the dining table (parallel to the street, I know there's a technical term for that ). This results in an attic studio above the upper floor. Thus, despite the narrow floor plan, enough living and storage/hobby/party space can be generated through the basement and attic studio.

Thank you in advance for your feedback.
