Sink in the laundry room?

If there is enough space, I would at least lay the connections for a washbasin. I find it practical to quickly rinse out, for example, the detergent drawer or to refill the spray bottle with water while ironing. It would also be an advantage when soaking completely dirty clothes, as you can simply fill and empty a bucket without having to lug it into the bathroom.

If there is space, do it, because it costs almost nothing. The connections are there anyway.

We have a washer-dryer (with heat pump), which pumps the condensate water away through the hose.

A small tip for Bosch / Siemens devices: better not to rig up a hose connection.

Our heat pump dryer from Bosch has to be emptied after every cycle. Even with retrofitting, there is no way to connect it directly to the wastewater.

Aside from that, you also asked about children. I wouldn't even think twice about installing a sink there. I would do it immediately.

Completely muddy clothes ("Somehow I fell into the ditch"), pants with already dried excrement from kindergarten ("Your child had a number two accident"), blood... they carry all sorts of things in their clothes that I at least don't put directly into the washing machine and also don't really want to soak for hours in the bathroom sink.

If you google "utility room sink," you'll find the classic ones where you don't have to tile or anything. There are some for 30 euros. The utility room doesn't need to look fancy.

But you can make a compromise: have the pipes laid. If the washing machine is already there, the effort is very minimal. If there's no hot water, that might not be so bad, because you can just fetch it in a bucket from next door.

We have a utility room sink with an integrated splash guard (raised back wall). In hindsight, I regret not having a tiled splashback after all, because there is always some splashing ... (maybe we're just too clumsy). Oh, and I regret that we only got the simple plastic utility sink and not a ceramic beauty (and bigger) from Villeroy & Boch or something enameled. : If you're going to do it, do it right But that would be another topic ...

We have planned a basin in the utility room. I’m glad when I finally don’t have to use the sink in the bathroom anymore.

What kind of stains children produce. Most food stains come out well in the sun, but all the rest?
