With that reasoning, you don't even need one garage.

Jokes aside, we both have to/want to commute by car and a garage has several advantages. a) Security, cars are stolen quite a lot here, plus access to the rear property from the street is no longer possible with the 2nd garage, and b) the car is not too hot/cold and you can store other things as well.

Absolutely, we just have to see how it fits into the overall concept, but it can already work well with 2 garages.

but exactly that could also be seen negatively, for example if you ever wanted to have a small excavator in the garden because you want to change something there, etc.

That's true, that would be bad. We have planned a sliding door in the back of the left garage, so a mini excavator should be able to get through.

Understood. Nevertheless, in my opinion, the door to the already open kitchen is pointless and there could simply be an open access to the kitchen. Because if you close this kitchen door, the room is still completely open. A door should also be able to close off a room, but an open room with a door at this spot??? I would know.......honest statistics tell you that nowadays this is almost no longer possible, unless you have the highest level of qualification and technology. This danger usually does not exist for us homeowners. Simply tying two cables together no longer works. Nevertheless, of course, you can build a garage-. I used to have a plot with 17m and had blocked the possibility of getting with the trailer or other vehicle behind the house. That often meant more costs and a lot of work with the wheelbarrow. I would definitely preserve such an access today!!! I don’t know the exterior view and the requirements but maybe a double garage in front of the house or shifted in front would be an option, maybe also to visually intercept the building a bit?

The door to the kitchen is, in my opinion, reasonable, because otherwise all the smells would spread into the house and also upstairs. Possibly a sliding door is a good option, then the appearance is better and you can still close it. Well, statistics can be deceptive. Around here you can practically read weekly about break-ins or car thefts, especially new high-end cars. Maybe there are major regional differences, the good connection could actually be counterproductive here. Hmm, maybe at least at the beginning we should leave the left side open anyway, you can always build it later. A double garage would be ideal, but that will be difficult in terms of space and visually difficult if brought forward, also regarding the permit.
