This middle of the road interior paint is not toxic at all, contains no biocides, is completely harmless, and is on the walls in thousands of clinics, homes, apartment blocks, office wings.
No, Karsten, not like that! You are just repeating what your brother said.
The
safety data sheet of this paint clearly states:
Contains 1,2-benzisothiazol-3(2H)-one, mixture of 5-chloro-2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one [EC No. 247-500-7] and 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one [EC No. 220-239-6] (3:1), 2-methyl-2H-isothiazol-3-one. May cause allergic reactions.
What do you think is the purpose of including isothiazol? Clearly, only as a biocide! Any counterargument?
Codecheck writes about it:
Possible sensitization or allergy potential. Only a low concentration allowed at the workplace.
Google Dr. Wolfgang Plehn from the Federal Office for Risk Assessment
"Isothiazolinones on the skin and in indoor air – misjudgments and their effects"
It says there about:
"Information Association of Dermatological Clinics (IVDK) estimates that in Germany 1-2 million people are sensitized to MIT ▸ According to data from the Building Trade Social Accident Insurance (BGBau), in the last 10 years 80 occupational disease cases due to isothiazolinones have been recognized"
And it says in the data sheet:
Contains VOC (Directive 2010/75/EU) 0.02 % 0.3 g/l.
So volatile organic compounds, in other words: it evaporates.
is completely harmless
at least the "completely" I would want to replace with "allegedly".
The paint is certainly cheap to use and easy to apply and does look good. But your "harmless" does not apply to everyone.
