Loxone is basically almost never cheaper than KNX. I will also not go into the naive calculation with the software.

Regarding WLAN: If you are already dealing with larger amounts of WLAN devices for the smart home here, you certainly will not stick with the manufacturer's Fritzbox or even simpler devices, as these rarely supply a complete single-family house from their usually modest position to the very last WLAN actuator. In this case, you certainly (if you think it through) consider an access point system. Then you turn off the router’s WLAN anyway and it doesn’t matter where it is located. Changing the router is then also stress-free.

That's true, but not entirely, as an end customer you have access to the software and can change it according to your preferences.

With KNX you need a programmer who charges by the hour, especially when it comes to special requests. And depending on the scope, Loxone can actually be cheaper.

I know Miniservers that run at 100% because the customer has created various logics. He needs a new one now. With KNX, I think it would be a masterpiece to achieve something like that.

These are the classic answers from people who have no idea about KNX and only a little about Loxone.

You can also do that with KNX, anyone can buy the software if they pay for it. The fact that you get the software for free with Loxone doesn't mean it doesn't cost anything. You just pay for it somewhere else. That's what I mean by a naive calculation. But of course that looks good.

If you have the ETS, you can do everything wonderfully yourself. "Depending on the scope" is again vague. If you compare directly, i.e. the same performance scopes, Loxone is almost (!) always more expensive. I don’t need to demonstrate that to you either; many people have already done that on YouTube. Feel free to take a look.

On the one hand, that doesn’t exactly speak well for the Miniserver, and on the other hand, the Miniserver’s memory card tends to die rather than the entire device. But that doesn't happen because of "too much logic," rather because the device with the card is simply a design flaw for this application. With a KNX server, of course, you also have the possibility for backups. Restoring them doesn’t require an electrician master either. Except for a few exceptions, these are all end customer devices. With normal devices, you simply upload the application from the backup file, and everything runs as before. But then we’re back to my opening sentence about the lack of knowledge or believing much more than knowing.

Well, we're talking about the gen1 which is well over 10 years old. How exactly to utilize it to that extent is beyond my knowledge.

Once a backup is made, swapping an SD card takes only a few minutes. Unfortunately, Loxone is not alone with this problem; many devices rely on SD cards, and I know some that have to be sent in to the factory because of this.

Mine runs at 25% for the whole house, and if in doubt, it's no problem to use a second one.

If you are familiar with ETS, but I'm assuming the end customer here.

Oh come on. The end customer also has to deal with the Loxone software and logics. That works just as well with the ETS and is possible for every end customer. Anyone who can't manage that should really seek a professional and generally keep their hands off the subject. Experience shows that even more can go wrong otherwise. I had really stopped trying to preach about that, but in the end, someone reading it for the first time might still believe you.

You already know the Loxone Config, right? It hardly gets any easier.

With the ETS, you first have to deal with the addressing issue
