Shed roof or rather hip roof for a bungalow?

Hello,

this year I want to build a bungalow on my property with my construction company.
A shed roof is nothing other than a flat roof, just with a slight angle so that the water drains better.
In the past, there were almost always problems with flat roofs and their leaks after a few years.
How does the current construction method look for a shed roof compared to a hip roof?
Is a hip roof always safer than a shed roof regarding leaks after 20 or 30 years?
Or are shed roofs nowadays so watertight that there are no disadvantages compared to
hip roofs if built properly?

Best regards

One should follow
Taste
Development plan (what is allowed)
Function

A shed roof is something different from a flat roof. A shed has a higher ridge on the outer side, which allows, for example, light to enter through windows, either into the attic or the ground floor. A shed allows slopes of more than 4 or 8 degrees (<- flat roof)
Through windows as described, a shed roof house appears more modern than a conventional hip roof.
A shed roof has a different construction than a hip roof.
So what do you want? Shed or flat roof?
Or I throw the gable roof into the mix with the hip roof.
Consequently, the roof should match the house. So no shed roof with the country house style.

For the monopitch roof, the orientation for a potentially desired photovoltaic system has a greater impact (depending on the actual roof pitch). You can theoretically cover all roof sides on a hip roof with a shallow roof pitch up to 25°. As far as I know, monopitch is usually cheaper than hip.

Pult. The ugliest of all roofs... always looks like the terrible postmodern-inspired, asymmetrical architecture of the 80s.

I always thought that too – that it looks a bit like a garden shed or a shed. But I saw a pretty nice house with a shed roof in my future neighborhood. I don't know why that is.

I would like a bungalow with a modern layout. A flat roof would be an option. Out of fear that it might become leaky, I told the architect no flat roof but a shed roof house. In practice, the shed roof house turned out to be a bit more expensive than a hip roof house. I am only concerned whether a shed roof is more likely to have problems with leaks than a hip roof house. Price and appearance are up to me.
