Shed roof or rather hip roof for a bungalow?

Nope ...

It is a shed roof and has roof tiles and between 11° and 60° pitch. Should I find you a hip roof with 8° pitch?

Voila...

To get back to the comparison, you now say the blue Porsche is faster than the red Dacia. True. But there are also red Porsches.

But I give up the discussion now. Everything over 22° pitch is worry-free. No matter if it is a shed roof, gable roof, hip roof, half-hip roof, or whatever other roofs.

?.. he's not even comparing. He is right: it depends on the slope.
Your photos don’t really matter because you just dug them out as examples.
They are two completely different houses.

But flat roofs are ruled out for you, right? So you don’t have to ask yourself that question.
And yes: of course I trust a professional. After all, they are building me a house for a lot of money. They were chosen – we have a contract.

In this example, of course, you are completely right, I admit that and let myself be corrected.
Only my pictures from post are not sample images from Google image search but exactly the two house types I can choose from
for a fixed price. These types of houses are not individually tailored to me, which is OK for me.
Of course, I can hire the architect to plan everything completely differently, but then it falls outside my budget planning.

I hope you don't choose your wife that way either: "which hairstyle should I take? Short hair means going to the hairdresser more often... The inner values don't have to fit mine..."

To come back to your examples, you say the shed roof has no tiles in this case. What type of roofing then? Aluminum? Bitumen? The type of roofing might have a greater impact on durability than the pitch or roof shape. Personally, a metal roof would be too loud for me when it rains. With bitumen (even with an 8° pitch), I would be concerned about durability and wouldn't find it attractive. If a hip roof is too traditional, how about a gable roof with a fire gable? In my opinion, it looks modern and not so "bourgeois"... (I’m writing this right now under a nicely bourgeois hip roof with a 23° pitch).

You are not supposed to trust "every" construction company, but only your "chosen one". Why should they offer you something they know is prone to defects?? You like it, then just do it.......or out of distrust build a hip roof and then look enviously over at the neighbor's shed roof, while it drips into your fancy -SAFE- hip roof :D You then live in a house that is rather tailored to others but you worry about the shape of the roof? Think a lot about the possible adaptation of the floor plan and roll the dice for the roof shape or build a barrel roof :D
