Hello, we want to operate a water pump with our neighbors (using a shared well) and are considering how to separate the electricity costs for it. Are there electricity meters for "switching"? In other words.. if the neighbor uses the pump, they switch to their meter, if we use the pump, we switch to our meter. Thanks for tips. (Doesn't have to be certified.. it's only for our internal use)

Sub meter and then divide by 2. Simple and pragmatic.

Should the pump then have a dual power supply, once from him, once from you? If yes, just have a contactor installed in the supply line for switching, then it runs on the respective meter in the own household.

How long should the pump run per year? If one gives the other a crate of beer per year, the costs are settled ....

For your information.. The old, deep well (filter) is located immediately behind our two properties and dates back to GDR times (previously used for drinking water supply).

We can't quite estimate yet how the usage will develop.. nor what costs will arise. We actually have our own well, which has so far supplied enough water. For the neighbor, it's not looking quite as good.. he will probably use the pump more often. He has a lot of lawn and wants to irrigate it during dry periods. There will only be one power connection, which runs through us.

I somehow imagine two meters. A switch will then toggle to the respective meter. How the billing will be done later remains to be seen.. it could also be a case of beer ;-)

So, I also once had a pump in operation for 5 parties (RH-Zeile). 3 parties then left. Separation, second meter etc. was more expensive than proportionate considering the basic amount for the few consumption euros. From the last party, I then charged a flat rate of 5 € p. a.

How about not charging for the electricity directly but based on the water consumption?
