Yes… we have a rounded glass plate that we put away during the summer months.

Such a wood stove is not really installed. The chimney already gets a hole for the stove pipe during construction at the spot where you want it. Possibly, a hole must also be made in the room wall (if the chimney is not directly in the room); if you know at what height it has to be, the general contractor will do that right away. You just place the stove, connect the pipes properly, seal them at the chimney (a double-walled collar goes in there), and that’s it. Then have it approved by the chimney sweep. You can get all the necessary pipes at the hardware store. It is more important to clarify with the chimney sweep beforehand what you are allowed to set up. Do you need an airtight stove or is one that depends on room air also allowed? Will you have an exhaust hood with a vent? Then you need special window contacts. So first, have a talk with the chimney sweep.

We have just installed a wood stove as a retrofit in the five-year-old house. Currently, the allowed fine dust levels are still at 80 ppm. In 2024, the limit will be tightened to 40 ppm. I asked the chimney sweep: The next tightening stage will not be about ppm but an automatic combustion control, which can also be mechanical. This minimizes high emissions caused by user errors. It is already in progress. He basically recommended air supply from outside. 8 kW is way too much, and you don't want to add a little wood every half hour. Even 4 kW is plenty, but it's rarely less than that. For us, it is a stove from Nide in Sweden. The combustion air control is purely mechanical via a bimetal strip. The delivery time was 4-5 months two weeks ago. One week later it was 6-7 months, but I insisted on a demonstration model for obvious reasons, it doesn’t affect us. Buying wood was more like hunting than buying, I needed several days to find some and barely managed with a bit of luck. Many greetings Gabriele

Hello,

thank you very much for all the contributions so far!
Do you have any further concrete suggestions besides the already recommended "Skantherm Elements S" (I only find a "Skantherm Emotion S," but no Elements S, maybe a typo)?

That would be very nice, but with a price of 3500 euros plus installation and pipes, it somewhat exceeds our budget.

Yes sorry, of course Emotion S. The Skantherm Elements is square and a modular system, also very nice, but you need more space and more money :) Regarding the price: just do some googling and comparing; that's how we found our dealer, went there for advice/viewing and were able to negotiate a special price because we also ordered 2 garden sheds at the same time (called Outlet and sells stoves in winter and garden furniture in summer).

I have had a Hark from Obi for 17 years and cannot say anything negative. Although the stove burns almost 200 days a year due to its location in and on the house, so far only the sealing cord was defective and the vermiculite plates are now starting to crack. You don't have to buy in the most expensive specialty store and you also don't need installation. After consulting with the chimney sweep, just place it and connect the pipes. You can also create the atmosphere with wine, whiskey, or a woman, depending on your preferences. No one currently knows what the emissions standards and their implementation will look like in 2024.
