Door panels do not always come from suppliers - it is just that many manufacturers like to buy this part in.

Wood but not wood does not work. What is in the photo only works in wood. You can stick profile strips on a plastic door, but that is not the same. What is beautiful enough for you, of course, you have to decide.

I would have preferred to say: "go to a carpenter - he is happy when a demanding job comes in" - but unfortunately carpenters (as much as they would actually be my first choice for the door here) are usually not proficient in locking, fittings, and closing technology. Therefore my reference to Pax. They can even do the turned stuff for historic building elements.

Of course, you can also combine: off-the-shelf plastic door and panels from the local carpenter.

There's no helping it. If it's the door, talk to Brunkhorst about how he builds it. Sun is deadly for any varnish. Even the long-oil turpentine varnishes from boat building only last a few years. And the two K products don't work on solid wood, only on plywood. However, the door doesn't look like that. Maybe he coats it with films! Then it would work. As I said, talk to each other. Karsten

Surface finished with environmentally friendly water-based paints.

And what happens in the end? Is it enough if we repaint every 5 years? Sand off the old paint beforehand? Or are we also talking about material damage here?

If it's "only" about repainting every 5 years, we could live with that.

What happens? Initially, nothing to the wood unless it is permanently damp and unprotected. The varnish becomes thin, cracked, and flakes off due to UV radiation. The only thing left is to sand, dust off, and varnish. Best are long oil types. Just google Epifanes. In my opinion, they are the benchmark for wood varnishes, including suitability for tropical climates. Not exactly cheap. But what are 10,- more for several years of increased durability. However, even Epifanes eventually succumbs to the sun. That’s how it is.

Thank you for saying that. I specifically paid attention to this in an exhibition today and: you are completely right (at least with this manufacturer (KompoTherm)).

From the manufacturer Brunkhorst regarding the door in the picture, I have the following statement:

"
You do not need to worry here. If you care for the door once a year with a care product, working time about 10 minutes, you will have a beautiful door for many years. Care instructions are included with the delivery of the door.

If after several years the door should become unsightly, a light sanding and a single-layer renovation coat is sufficient.

Material damages can be ruled out.
"

Of course, he wants to sell something, but if country house style is limited to wood, we hardly have a choice, because such a modern door then does not fit with the rest of the house.

You like her, don't you? So take her, you won't find another. Bet? Sometimes you just have to follow your heart. Karsten
