Hello hardworking craftsmen,

I want to start the step in the outdoor area at my place. I want to fill the area with recycling material to later lay stones in gravel.

Now to my question. How do I best seal the door area beforehand? Is EPDM sealing tape sufficient or liquid plastic?

A photo of the current condition is included.
I ask for advice on how I can reasonably but practically carry out the whole thing.
Thanks a lot to you and good luck with your projects.

Is the slab below the base plate? Is there a basement?
Is that on the left colored plaster?

The sealing of the door or of the extension on which the door stands should have been done before applying any other materials in the exterior area.

Yes, that is the base slab. No basement. Colored plaster on both sides. Everything was done by the appropriate companies.

In front of the cobblestone plaster, side entrance door. The preparation should be underneath.

The problem is that all material transitions (e.g. between floor recess profile & wall, or profile and floor slab) must be sealed seamlessly, both with the pure sealing compound (e.g. Remmers MB2K+ is recommended) and additionally reinforced with a crack-bridging tape (or shaped pieces at corners) – this is then embedded into the sealing compound. This works and adheres best to the material left as raw as possible (more precisely, sanded and/or primed according to the sealing compound manufacturer's specifications).

Whether the adhesion will be sufficient in your case, especially with decorative stone plaster, is hard to say… it is best to ask, for example, Remmers if they approve such a thing.

Ok thanks for your answer. I had actually already ordered Remmers and also the corresponding [Formband]. Then I will probably try it with that.
