The open side of the 1.70m long shower faces the door. When showering normally, water should not splash to that height there, but the light switch is still not allowed in that area.

We have also closed the gates because of the second one, we have already trusted the stairs with our "big" one for a while. And we also close upstairs at night, because when half asleep you can easily take the wrong turn despite the motion night light, and I wouldn't want to blame myself for something like that.

How does the Geuther hold by clamping? Does the trip edge bother? Is it somehow wobbly because it is clamped?

The trip edge is not real because, as described above, it hangs on the last step. The leg still has to be lifted... it can be installed at the bottom in the same way, then nothing gets in the way, but we already had the Roba before... nothing wobbles either because it is clamped firmly...

We each had gates from Safety-First. The gates were also installed at the top and bottom. This worked very well in the old apartment. However, since there was a round stair stringer (steel spiral staircase) there, we had to improvise. The gates were disposed of during the move.

In the house, after a warning from an acquaintance, we got new gates again because our little one was about 2 years old at the time. These had to be installed according to the stair width including all possible extensions (were clamped between the wall and stringer). No problem with the mounting. It was also quite stable. However, safety-First had changed the locking system compared to the old doors. Our daughter, 4 years old, opened the lock immediately. The little one needed 2 weeks and then figured out the trick as well. Thus, about 2 months later, we took the risk and took the gates down again.

However – we built “in reverse,” since the house was built on a slope. That means the bedrooms are downstairs and the living rooms upstairs. Therefore, the little one cannot fall down the stairs while half asleep – he at most climbs up sleepily and is then carried down by mom or dad. Now the kids are 3.5 and 5.5 years old and the issue has resolved itself anyway.
