Hi everyone,

we want to paint our staircase with Knauf EasyPutz this weekend. Now we are wondering how to best go about it. We have already painted several rooms with it and are (by now :)) a bit more experienced.

Our staircase is an open quarter-turned double stringer staircase (classic terraced house staircase). We can't reach the wall behind the steps, so we have to unscrew the steps. We can't manage the entire height in one go. We thought the following: - remove all steps up to the next floor. - paint from the floor to just above the steps - put the steps back - and then the next floor And work our way from the basement towards the attic

This way, any edges that may occur between the floors would be just above the stair treads, which is certainly less noticeable than in the middle of the wall. Do you have any other ideas?

Experts would start at the top and work their way down. I would apply behind the beams under the steps, not above them. I have never applied Easyputz, but that is how I would do it with paint. Could you please show what the liquid plaster looks like?

: From top to bottom, we would have the problem that we can't stand, or we would have to build an extra platform. The steps to stand on would then be gone :) But it's true, when I think about it, the separation of the individual floors under the stair steps seems less visible. You also walk down/up the stairs with your gaze lowered. Good that we are taking the whole weekend for the stairwell :D Do you mean a picture floating or on the wall?

But don’t use EasyPutz. ;) I keep saying it here, that stuff is no good. I used it in the small office. After years, the paint was no longer there, or was completely different. Also, it’s “sharp-edged” when you run your hand over it…

I found a picture of the baseboard sample (but it’s not going to be gold :)). You can see the texture quite well here. We primed with Knauf Sperrgrund, then applied it with a roller and finally rolled over it with the finishing roller. We like the look, but it’s very much like sandpaper.

So we painted everything white again and now it’s "softer". I can provide another photo of that later. The picture is without painting.

We tested it beforehand in the bedroom behind the future wardrobe.

Thanks. What is this called? Is this fine plaster or a substitute for textured wallpaper? (I'm asking for a friend ;) )
