Hello experts,

I have a question: I want to retrofit a hot water buffer tank to my Giersch MultiJet 16 UB oil heating system. My grandfather did not consider this necessary and heated everything with a continuous flow heater. The burner is about 5 years old. Since I have now taken over the house, I want to install a storage tank that should later also operate with solar energy. The points of use are: kitchen, bathroom/bathtub/shower/sink.

What kind of storage tank do I need, and is this that simple? I would be grateful for some tips.

Regards, Chris

With such a specific model, no one here will be able to help you. But I know a good heating engineer near you who could take a look at it.

Is the heating really that bad? It actually only has good reviews, or what do you mean by that?

I do not mean that the heating is bad. But specific systems are rarely discussed here. This is more about the general whole.

Do you really want to renovate properly? You would probably have to run hot water pipes everywhere first.

Under certain circumstances, such decentralized heating is not a bad idea at all, because although you have to use a little more energy, on the other hand you have less water loss. Solar domestic water heating usually does not pay off anyway. So if you have to tear everything up just because of the hot water pipes, I would think about it carefully, especially since the instantaneous water heaters are already there.

I agree with Koempy's recommendations.

Thank you for your answers :), the house will be completely renovated anyway. I am laying almost all the pipes new, so that’s not a problem, later there should also be solar on the roof. I think it makes the most sense to have someone from the "Fach" come by. I don’t even know what kind of buffer I need, one with a heat exchanger or if the boiler heats it and then lets it run through the storage tank. I’m still at the very beginning :)
