Well, then the energy consultant missed the mark with his profession...

Since you’re planning a gas boiler anyway, the purely logical consequence is gas+solar (or thicker insulation) and a storage tank...

With the domestic hot water heat pump, you also need the storage tank, so you actually don’t save anything with the proposed setup but end up paying more...

Gas+solar+storage costs about 6,000

Domestic hot water heat pump + gas + storage costs about 10,000

Including interest, you can calculate that yourself...

Hello diefamilie1978

Your energy consultant has already calculated that for you, hasn’t he?

The weak point is, as others have mentioned, the mix. If you already produce electricity yourself, then why not also feed the heating with it! Why still pay extra for a gas boiler? I also know about hot water boilers with integrated heat pumps, but those also cost extra! Then I would rather consider a decentralized hot water supply with electric instantaneous water heaters (only in combination with photovoltaic on the roof or green electricity).

Solar can also be worthwhile if energy prices rise accordingly. No one knows if and how much they will rise, only assumptions are made. In principle, it would be a good combination with the gas boiler. But I would also only decide on one, either photovoltaic or solar.

Good luck!

"Energy consultant" is not a protected professional title! There are insulation or system sellers, pure form fillers as well as chimney sweeps operating under that title! Therefore, the person should at least have an engineering education. Better if they are a TGA planner and have additionally qualified in civil engineering (or vice versa)!

Hello,
Not a bad concept! I've done something similar with DIY people! In terms of consumption costs, a PH, from a primary energy perspective rather an Energy Saving Ordinance standard! ;-)
Just ask me ;-)

@Euro

It only happens once every leap year that you praise a concept here ;) ;)

The consumption costs of the gas boiler for hot water and heating are around 50 €/month when simply multiplying the calculated heating demand by gas costs. I know that this only works approximately because practice is not the same as theory, but the order of magnitude is correct.

The gas boiler will be fully modulating. Buderus can do that quite well in the mentioned performance range, if I remember correctly. My energy planner told me something about it once.

How high is the actual demand for heating and hot water, respectively the actual annual efficiency for this? Moreover, there are considerable differences between actual demand and consumption! Heat pumps enable consumption below demand, completely logical, since free environmental energy can be utilized here, whereas with conventional heat generators such as gas condensing boilers, consumption is always higher than demand :) Strange? ;-)

Best regards
