That's the same reason for us, my son would have lost a key right away. It's also practical for walking the dog when you don't have to take a key with you.

Not entirely true. Different door manufacturers offer the scanners at different heights. Anyone who cannot reach a doorbell should perhaps not be able to open the house unattended.

Here is a similar problem. However, the trim is not attached on top, but milled in. Old trim removed with gentle force. New one fitted. All intact. No traces.

... which of course changes the absolute distances between the measurement points. If the system scales that, then it fits, of course.
