Good evening
Thank you very much for your answers.
Hi,
maybe my thread here will help you, I did something similar there:
I think you have forgotten some items in your renovation.
Yes, that has already helped me a lot.
if they did not receive the order for renovation assessment, they will say nothing. I wouldn’t either, it’s a lucrative contract that would be missed.
With so many measures, I would also have everything professionally assessed, also with regard to inheritance / purchase of the house.
Not that in the end demolition and new construction turns out to be cheaper. Especially with asbestos, my hair stands on end
The order was the valuation because of the inheritance. The "condition" of the house only became visible after removing the wooden ceilings and wallpapers. Before, everything looked fine, which is why the compulsory heirs also think my mother inherited a dream house..
The two experts expressed to us regarding the possible renovation that it would definitely be feasible and also cheaper than a new build.
They also both agreed that, for example, the window replacement would not have to be done immediately, but at the moment we find it more reasonable that if the facade is going to be insulated anyway and the roof redone, then the windows should be renewed at the same time.
That’s not enough.
Asbestos breaks down through mechanical stress (as during dismantling) to the level of nanoparticles, which even become small enough to penetrate the skin. And in the body this stuff is, firstly, really nasty and secondly no longer removable.
I am fully aware of how dangerous asbestos is in the body, precisely for that reason I am skeptical whether one could really dismantle and dispose of it oneself. There are companies for a reason. As far as I know, the renovation because of asbestos would be tax-deductible, then at least a part of the costs would come back to us (even if that won’t be a large part).
I think the most sensible thing will be to wait for the report, which should be ready in 2-4 weeks, and then have cost estimates made by companies. If these show that it is not worthwhile for us or that it is worthwhile, we can still deal more concretely with the topic of homeownership.
I would just feel sorry for the house, so many memories are attached to it...
