I can only advise you to maybe walk through an existing row house settlement this summer (also in the evening sometimes). After all, a row house is just an apartment in a vertical format.
I have already lived in a row house. I liked it. Although you had loose contact with the neighbors, basically everyone does their own thing. Besides, my partner is sociable. I leave the small talk at the garden fence to him.
Sounds: with two children we will probably raise the noise level anyway; so I shouldn't be particularly critical.
Is Nauen really the desired area? – Really good school, but also a.d.w.
Desired area....Well, desired conditions fits better. Less traffic, schools, connection to regional train and motorway, but not a pure new housing estate area, rather a historically grown place with a town center. Fits.
There are certainly things that are disadvantageous: longer commute but since I myself grew up in the countryside, I can realistically assess that... and also pass on what I had as a child: namely an extended personal range of movement, which they cannot have in the city.
