Good evening, we have installed a system from Ventomaxx. The noise level at the lowest setting is very tolerable, I actually can't hear anything from it right now. We have installed 8 devices with heat recovery plus 3 exhaust fans in damp rooms. Our living area is 180 sqm. Certainly, disadvantages must be considered, for example noise from outside can be heard in very strong wind. All in all, however, we are satisfied.

There are basically hardly any significant differences between the individual manufacturers of decentralized ventilation technology. The principle is always the same. A pair of fans, while one is blowing out, the other blows in and after time x they change direction. Or one blows out and the other stands still. And after time x the fans switch. Then the one that ran stands and vice versa. Without heat recovery it doesn’t make sense either, otherwise you could just leave the window open 24 h/365 days. So every manufacturer installs a ceramic heat exchanger. There are small differences here, square cell structure or hexagonal. Since the hexagonal shape offers a larger surface and thus an increased efficiency of about 3 - 5 %, it will become established among all manufacturers in the future. The manufacturers only differ in price and reputation. Everything is a matter of personal conviction. It just has to be installed correctly according to the manufacturer’s instructions. Then you should really be satisfied with it.

First of all, I am pro ventilation system. But it is a bit pointless to insulate like a champion and then make holes in the walls again to get air back in!!?? Now we belong to the family that cannot ventilate every 2 hours as recommended in today’s new buildings. We are at work after all. So the ventilation system is probably the only option left. Yes, I completely agree with you. It is pointless to insulate only to later knock holes in the wall to install fans that provide the necessary moisture protection.
I have a client who absolutely refuses to insulate her house, accepts higher heating costs, but has no mold problems and enjoys good indoor air quality due to natural infiltration.
You can do it that way, but only as long as you are not building new today. The EnEf and DIN require a tight building envelope, and you have to adhere to that today if you want subsidies and funding.
A family building today and working unfortunately cannot ventilate adequately as required. Then you have to resort to such forced measures.

What I am still wondering is, how is this supposed to work in the summer? We like it quite cool in the summer months inside the house. Only the heat recovery is then counterproductive. What can be adjusted on the system?

It is not the insulation that makes ventilation necessary, but the airtight layer. Insulation actually prevents mold.

Heat recovery is based on a heat exchanger. This also works in reverse when it is warmer outside than inside. Then the outside air is cooled down. What is missing, however, is the bypass control, which ensures that cool air comes in directly at night.
