Hello everyone,

we treated ourselves to a new kitchen and I am currently assembling the wall cabinets.
My wife didn’t want any door handles and the Ikea kitchen consultant then recommended a solution with the Ulustra push openers.

During installation, however, I now have the feeling that it is a catch-22. The door dampers on the door hinges don’t have enough force to close the push openers, do they? So either I have a thinking error or the kitchen consultant told/sold us a bit of nonsense?

Do you have any idea or solution for me?

Best regards

Franz

When using electric strikes, you have to push the door shut. Dampers are not really useful together with electric strikes. If the springs in the hinges were so strong that they could push the strikes in, then logically the strikes would be too weak to push the door open.

Hello IKEA expert,

well then I am glad that I thought correctly and the lady sold us nonsense. Can I return the dampers at IKEA even if the packaging is already opened or already disposed of? I am a novice in this regard, as my wife has so far kept a wide berth around IKEA.

Best regards

Hello Franz, with the receipt you can also return the shock absorbers without packaging.

Hello IKEA expert,

first of all, thank you for your quick feedback.

I have now taken the original plan and compared it with the current state.
I actually thought the IKEA kitchen consultant had only changed one cabinet during the last visit and added the desired lighting.

But the smart aleck inserted the unnecessary door dampers all at once, doubled the number of push openers, and clicked on three times the amount of cabinet feet. At the same time, he simply added a white one to the otherwise gray fronts for the base cabinets and made a few other small changes. That annoys me because I relied on the fact that things that are not needed would not just be added and, above all, that a layperson cannot initially judge these things.

So I will soon use my first day of vacation to return a whole bunch of things, as this probably makes little sense on a Saturday.

At the same time, I have a question.

I was recommended the following cabinet combination for the base cabinet of the sink:

70213569 METOD base cabinet for built-in oven/sink white 60x60x80 cm
10114218 Boholmen built-in sink/1 1/2 basins, drainer stainless steel 90x50 cm basin
40215522 Atlant siphon, 2
80131549 Ringskär single-lever mixer tap/kitchen steel-colored
90221016 Veddinge drawer front gray 60x20 cm
60221008 VEDDINGE door gray 60x60 cm
30204637 Maximera drawer, low white 60x37 cm
60204631 MAXIMERA drawer high white 60x45 cm
40204651 Utrusta drawer front, low white 60 cm
20269931 UTRUSTA drawer fitting for door

The large lower drawer is therefore supposed to have the 60x60 cm door as its front. (Why the planner did it this way I cannot say, maybe so that there is enough space for the planned waste separation.)
But I have no idea how and where to install the UTRUSTA drawer front here, nor how and where to install the drawer fitting for the door. I have (using the enclosed drilling template) transformed and installed the door itself into a drawer front, and that works, although the whole thing is a bit tricky. But I cannot explain why the mentioned parts are not used.

Best regards

Franz

That is very simple. The 60 cm front is used so that the sink is covered by the 20 cm front as a panel. With the 80 cm front, the leverage on the front attachment would also be greater. In addition to the tall drawer, a low one is planned as an inner pull-out. This one is only 37 cm deep and fits in front of the Atlant siphon if it has been installed properly. The UTRUSTA front is attached to the front of this drawer. The drawer fitting is attached at the back to the lower pull-out for reinforcement. The gray parts were probably already included with the drawer and you do not need them. The drilling template is also not necessary.
