Hello everyone,

we want to replace the windows in the old building, and we have noticed in the quotes that especially the basement windows do not meet the values required for BAFA funding because they are so small.

According to the provider, this should not be a problem since the average of all windows is relevant. And the average is clearly below the limit, around 0.7-0.8.

Can someone confirm this or is it nonsense? In the worst case, will at least everything else still be funded, or nothing at all?

Check the technical minimum requirements. Yes, it is nonsense. There are different ways to determine the U-values. It would make sense, for example,

Every window made from the same materials has the same U-value. It doesn’t matter whether it is a 10sqm window or a peephole measuring 20x20cm.

For the promotion of individual measures, the Uw of each individual window must be acceptable or alternatively the Uw-n. The U-value of the corresponding standard window. The building services engineering is only calculated for the efficiency house.
