Hello first of all,

I have registered here to get more information about the planned construction project. On the other hand, I also have a specific question.

I want to build (have built) a prefabricated house. I favor a specific company. Unfortunately, the nearest construction consultant/salesperson is a hefty 300km away.

My question now is whether you have experience with how important personal, that is "face-to-face" contact with the consultant is when planning your house. That is, when it comes to changes in the room layout or moving windows/doors after the general construction project has been decided. Did you have to meet with your consultant often? Can much be done via email or phone?

I think many details are only clarified during the sample selection process?!

Thanks in advance for your answers.

Regards

We met three times, twice the architect was present. After that, everything was done by email, mainly because I worked on the floor plan myself and changes were then briefly discussed. It’s certainly not a major problem, but proximity is better, especially later during construction, when he takes care of the follow-up and also wants to drop by.

It was similar for us as for Uwe82, we spoke with the seller two to three times to discuss, for example, the construction service description, the individual services, the process, the cost framework, etc. But as soon as it came to concrete house planning, the architect came into play and afterwards the individual trades, and you didn't hear much from the seller anymore because he usually referred questions during the construction process to the respective trades or the construction manager. But I must also say we had a committed seller who stood up for us a lot and even if he had to pass concerns on to specialist departments, he always followed up. Unfortunately, this is apparently not always the case.

We had 3 appointments with the seller - at home and at the [Musterhauszentrum], where he presented his company. Afterwards the architect came, the seller was present at 2 of the 3 appointments. Then a joint visit with the seller at the [Bemusterungszentrum]. Then the signature (at our home) and afterwards the selection of materials again with the seller and employees of the house building company. Without personal contact, I would not want to invest so much money.

Ok, so on average 2-3 times as it sounds. I also think that despite the distance we will meet in person at least once. I will probably follow up again to find out exactly how the process works at this company. Thanks for now
