You could replace the old wooden cladding with new horizontal boarding in larch or Douglas fir and extend it across the entire wall. It looks very stylish on a house around the corner here.

My suggestion would be to replace the wood. Possibly with plastic panels. But ’s idea I personally find better and more modern.
By the way, cool: this house could probably stand in the third side street at any of our places at the latest :)

Super thanks, I also can't find any photo online with a wooden facade only on the two gable sides... I therefore can't quite imagine it yet.

If you enter [Holzverschalung Giebelseite] in Google image search, after much scrolling you will find pictures of houses that have clad the entire gable side.

Yes, I have already noticed that too. But there aren’t really that many, and I still can’t quite imagine that it looks very good^^ What alternatives to wood would there be? I think the option with plastic panels is very nice!

As I already wrote. Take a look at the Eternit stuff. The material is really durable and has absolutely nothing in common with asbestos and the typical ugly panels of the past.

I find Eternit Cedral quite attractive, available in all sorts of colors and also with a wood texture. From the street, you cannot tell whether it is real wood or wood look.
You don’t have to maintain/sand/paint or do anything else to the facade for ages. It is UV resistant and absolutely weatherproof.
