Polycarbonate covering for terrace roofing noisy during rain?

The surcharge is quite steep, but is the VSG version then a different profile? Otherwise, nearly €10,000 surcharge for VSG seems a bit much to me. How big is the roof? VSG is polycarbonate after all superior when it comes to light, but of course, €10,000 is a completely different matter. But the question is, could you retrofit if polycarbonate doesn't suit you in the long run?

That is probably because they would need the surcharge for the VSG and an additional shading. For us, the surcharge from polycarbonate to VSG including shading (awning) is also about €6000.

The panel size for polycarbonate is much larger than for laminated safety glass—typically around 140 cm vs. 60 to 70 cm. And such a glass element already weighs 40 kg at 70x300 cm, which the installers have to lift overhead! On top of that, the structural engineering would hardly allow it. So no, that would only be possible in the opposite direction, from laminated safety glass to polycarbonate.

That’s actually what I would have assumed as well, although I didn’t ask about it. I can do that sometime.

By the way, our canopy measures 10m x 3.50m.

The surcharge just for glass would have been about €2,600. The shading is what really makes the difference of a total €10,000 surcharge ;)

Can you really do without shading with Poly? Then it would have to absorb a lot of light in bad weather as well.

It actually absorbs a lot of light – that's why we decided against it.

But with Poly Opal

… it gets dark in the WZ: 24/7. Except at night.

Another question: has anyone ever bought suitable sun sails cheaply online somewhere? The awning is supposed to cost €4750 - sun sail €2300. The roofing fits the price. Anyone got a tip?

What is your price expectation? It also depends on functionality and comfort. Where do you want to save, what is absolutely necessary? For 6 meters width you pay more than for the standard width of 4 meters.

And would you have to open and close them manually? All 7…

We bought at Schweng, right the package including lighting and awning. He was the cheapest.. solid work with satisfaction guarantee :)
