No, we are not getting any shading either. We would have only needed it for glass.

At €6,600 for polycarbonate without shading versus €16,550 for laminated safety glass + awning, the price was ultimately decisive.
Noise was not really a significant argument for us either, but we will see how it turns out in the end.
Currently, we are more concerned that the roofing might block too much light. I'm curious; the thing is supposed to be installed in about 8 weeks.

But the surcharge is hefty, is the VSG version using a different profile? Because otherwise, €10,000 extra for laminated safety glass seems a bit much to me. How big is the roof? Laminated safety glass is superior to polycarbonate, especially regarding light, but clearly €10,000 is a whole different matter. But the question is, could you retrofit if polycarbonate doesn't suit you in the long run?
