With so much space, I would never plan the front of the property so stingily.

I think this is the first sentence in this thread that isn’t about envy and costs. In Germany, you probably aren’t allowed to have anything except the bare minimum; even a second bathroom is frowned upon for two people.

Moving the workshop into the garage is not a good idea, in my opinion. As you have already correctly recognized, it is cold and uninsulated in winter. But that is exactly when you are there often. This is not comparable to the occasional mechanic who vacuums the car in summer. It might be worth considering moving the technology to the upstairs so that you can use the space better downstairs.

I have not seen anything "planned" here yet. My placements of the building volumes on the property are not to be understood as choosing the distance from the street as shown. Also, squeezing the house and garage together is just one example. I see the property access as a very clear recommendation for the garage entrance; the rest of the presentation serves solely to visualize the house in the context of the overall width. It would be helpful to know the municipality's ideas of a building envelope. That is a good suggestion, which, however, has not been implemented in catalog construction proposals.

For that, you treat yourself to a heater in the extension to the garage (or the carport). It is always much easier and cheaper than creating expensive space in the house.

Why? If the room meets the same requirements as a living space, it is just as expensive. And for a workshop in winter, you have the same requirements, or what do you want to leave out?

Besides, a workshop outside the thermal envelope first has to be laboriously heated up, which can take hours.
