The topic is also currently making the rounds here. Pellet or alternative. As I have already heard from several people, a pellet heating system is said to be much more prone to malfunctions than others. Additionally, there is the procurement. Initially, the pellets were made from industrial waste, but this has long since been insufficient; by now, trees are even being cut down specifically to meet the demand. Honestly, that drives the costs up as well, especially if the wood has to be imported. We all complain about the deforestation of forests, and now we are heating our homes with it. Sure, it’s a great thing, but I doubt whether it really protects the environment. By the way, this huge storage container really bothers me a lot; if you build without a basement, it takes up a lot of storage space. So we will most likely decide against a pellet heating system.

I tend to prefer the ground source heat pump, but that is also a question of cost. As an alternative, we are considering a gas condensing boiler in combination with solar. So far, I have only heard good things about it.

That sounds good, but unfortunately we are just at the beginning of our planning. We don’t even know if the bank will give us a loan. But then maybe you could answer the question for me, whether we can achieve the Kfw 40 standard with a gas condensing boiler combined with solar. Insulation and windows are designed for that. How long is the offer valid?

If only insulation and windows are designed for KfW 40, the level is probably very difficult to achieve. Unless with controlled residential ventilation, etc. At least that is our own experience. What average U-value does the wall you are planning have? The primary factor for gas heating systems is simply very poor.
