Hello everyone,
I have installed a drywall partition in the basement. The wall is only meant to separate the storage room from the "hobby room."
The door opening can remain open, so that no fixed door needs to be installed.
I left the door opening with standard measurements, so that I can realize a door width of 760mm and a height of 1980mm. The entire wall is 100mm thick.
Since I actually do not want a fixed door and only want a passage frame without hinges, I was quite shocked at how expensive that is.
In fact, I cannot find this in any hardware store (at least I haven’t found anything). Online, the frames cost around €140 plus €60 shipping.
In other words: I won’t get under €200 – just for having a visually nice passage.
Does anyone have an idea for an alternative? I also considered simply filling everything in with plaster and also plastering over the drywall profile inside. Certainly not the finest solution, but possibly doable. The only problem is that the drywall sheets around the door opening are never cut perfectly...
Somehow I don’t see why I should spend €200 just for the frame.
I am open to any advice/tips! Thanks!
