Hello,

I hope you are still active here on the forum, as your construction project is probably long completed by now.

We are currently in the process of planning a solid wood house ourselves, also with the solid wood wall. Unfortunately, there are no experience reports about this construction method on the internet. By chance, I came across this thread where you state that you built with Herrmann Massivholzhaus, which builds exactly with this type of wall.

Have settlement cracks developed for you in the meantime? The manufacturer claims that settlements are almost excluded due to the crosswise construction.
And can you give me some general feedback on the construction method (e.g. was it much more expensive than other construction methods? Or is the indoor climate really that great?....)

Thanks and best regards
Jochen

We also have a solid wood house. I cannot say yet if there are settlement cracks as we have just moved in. According to the site manager, the biggest settlement occurs when the screed is poured. However, it does crack properly from time to time. Wood works.

did you also build with the solid wood wall?

Best regards

Yes, solid wood inside and outside. Only the hillside wall is concrete.

OK, so glued laminated timber, nailed crosswise with aluminum pins.

Was the watch otherwise satisfied with the construction method? Was it much more expensive than the wooden frame construction?

Wall structure Google "wie wir Leben Haus." Cross-laminated. Exterior walls 5-ply, ceiling with us also 5-ply (decided by the structural engineer), interior walls 3-ply. The glue content is 0 something percent and formaldehyde-free. The individual walls and ceilings are then tensioned on-site with large bolts. The price difference between interior walls timber frame and solid wood was about 1,000 euros for us. For the entire house, I can't tell you. At the beginning, we had an offer for a timber frame house; at that time, the prices didn't differ much.
