Hello everyone,

I am currently looking for a ceiling light with a motion detector to install on our house entrance canopy.

We have had an electrical connection installed here (centered on the canopy) and would like to install a lamp with a motion detector here.

There seems to be NOTHING on the market...

Has anyone had similar experiences and can share how they proceeded?

We want a square lamp in anthracite - but I only find wall lights that are not suitable for ceiling installation.

Is there possibly a way to buy a lamp WITHOUT a motion detector and control it differently?

It is actually relatively rare. One option would probably be to install the desired lamp there and install a timer switch or something similar on the other cable. I don’t know how it looks on your end. It might be that the cable goes directly to the distribution board and is always live or it might go to a switch so you can turn it on or off separately. Depending on where the cable ends, there are different solutions... Another solution and probably the easiest would be to get a suitable lamp without an integrated LED and buy the LED from, for example, Philips Hue. You can then set via app when it turns on and off... the advantage is that you don’t really have to fiddle with the electrical system and don’t need to have someone come for that. I have found one attached that would work. It should also be bright enough because it has 2 sockets. If it is too bright, it can be easily dimmed.

For us, it looks roughly like this:

As I can see here in the picture, there is also a ceiling light installed :D

We would really like something like that too, of course also for a good price and in a nice design (square and in anthracite).

I had also already considered the idea with Philips HUE – unfortunately, that way I only have the option to control via TIME and not via motion... :(

Either we have to spend a lot of money and buy a lamp for 150€ (I already found something) or look for alternatives...

There is also a motion sensor at the front. If it is still possible and a second cable can be laid somewhere, then you can use a motion sensor. However, it looks questionable in my opinion... There is also a battery-powered version for outdoors from Hue. Costs 39€. Also in anthracite.

Why do people actually show pictures from somewhere else and not their own construction site/hut? The lamp there is basically "shielded," integrated motion detector doesn't work well. I would have planned small LED spots right from the start...
