Personally, I wouldn't have done anything with BW. Especially because of the pillars, I would highlight and illuminate the entrance area. I probably would have installed 2 outlets. Electricity costs for these small LEDs are then maybe €5 per year if they are on for an average of 8 hours. But well, tastes vary and that's a good thing.

Somehow I don't know what to think about constant lighting... I would find it somehow weird if it were constantly illuminated there - everything then seems so "open" - hard to describe.

The idea with Philips HUE is of course not really bad - that could be something to look into.

However: If continuous power is used – this must then be controlled by a timer switch or something similar, right? So that the lamp turns on at dusk and off again? Do I also have to switch something in here? How could something like this work?

Yes, either by timer or nowadays via app. It knows based on your location when dusk occurs. You then just need the appropriate light bulbs. The actual "technology" is already built into the bulb so that it does not light up despite "continuous power."

You could also connect a Shelly to the switch - right?

I quickly picked out two lamps with motion sensors that might possibly also be installed upstairs. ;)
