Outdoor blinds, venetian blinds - What to consider when buying?

we finally want to install an exterior shading on our old building soon, because in the summer it is hardly bearable facing east, the sun shines in all day and with the new summers....

External blinds usually require a wind sensor. Depending on the size of the blinds, manufacturers only guarantee up to a certain wind speed. If a storm comes and the blinds do not automatically roll up, problems quickly arise. We planned our house with blinds from the start, and the wind sensor as well as the entire control system are integrated into the smart home.

We also have venetian blinds in the house. I find them super simple because you can keep the heat out and still see something. However, a few things are just different from what you know from roller shutters.

[*]They go up more slowly than roller shutters
[*]They are not completely dark, at least depending on the model
[*]There are light-tight models and models which are significantly more stable in the wind
[*]With a wind sensor, it's a bit tricky... if it's set too sensitive, you'll be sitting in the evening in the wind with the light on a silver platter when they are up

We don't have a wind sensor but I can also raise the blinds externally in an emergency via the Shellys. So far, I had to do this about 2 times in 1 1/2 years here in BW.

For us, it is actually purely about heat protection in the summer. You can practically not look inside with us, and we also have interior blinds everywhere. But we have masonry window lintels and roller shutters would be complicated, there is no space for shutters and suitable designs are then very expensive.

That is why we have now settled on exterior venetian blinds. We also had such ones in a rented apartment and were very satisfied with them. For proper darkening, we have the interior blinds.

The selection overwhelms us, you can't get specialists for just a few windows, the order is too uninteresting...

I wouldn't sign off on that. I think there are many awning installers or carpenters who do that. I would rather keep an eye on the combination with electrical connection.

I have been searching since September. Found no one. The interest always disappears as soon as they hear that it is only about a few windows. We now want to buy online and install ourselves; the rest of the renovation already costs enough.
