Oiled wooden front door - What are your experiences here?

we would like a wooden front door with a side panel...
The exterior surface of the door leaf should be oiled, the frame should be painted.
Do you have experience with oiled doors? Maintenance? Wear?

Yes, with three products unrestrictedly good experiences regarding durability even under UV exposure (so durability for oil, varnish always lasts longer): Le Tonkinois, a turpentine oil from France, very good. Owatrol, an oil from Norway based on tung oil, very good. Epifanes, hardwood lacquer oil, slight gloss, certainly the best, from the NL, also turpentine-based. All available from marine outfitters. All also findable via google. Processing: Please as stated on the can, - and not otherwise!

All three oils are compatible with carpentry products, only their UV resistance is significantly better. They are also hardly more expensive. Only----they dry very slowly. People who buy roll-out turf because they don't have time to wait for grass to grow don't like that.

I didn't even know that Owatrol also has material for wood. I have also used Owatrol to make rusty studs on the underside of a car functional again. For example, on rocker panel covers, heat shields along the exhaust, or on suspension parts.

The oil is always the same, whether as a CIP primer with some lead monoxide in it for steel or pure for wood.
