Yes, when you deal a bit with stone and marble, you realize that there are also beautiful ones besides the yellow marble. Wood would be too sensitive for me personally. Even oiled. After all, there are sometimes flowers on the bench, and sooner or later you get water stains.

I have no concerns about water stains, but I am always very careful. But you are probably right... water should not stand too long even on oiled wood. We also have our countertop in the kitchen on the work block with a sink made from the same wood. You do have to be careful, but it is worth it to me.

We also have oak windowsills. Paid nearly €400 for 9 pieces in different sizes. Cut-to-size and chamfered. We sanded and oiled them ourselves. I also installed them myself. We really like them, also with the oak parquet and oak staircase.

I would also have concerns about the robustness from the cabinetmaker and would rather ask a restaurant fit-out specialist (but beware, the prices are on a different level - matching the clinker and kingsize tiles ).
